Zanganeh said that Iran will fully develop the South Pars gas field in 2020

Oct 30, 2019

Zanganeh, Oil Minister of Iran, said on Tuesday that the 27-phase offshore portion of the South Pars oilfield will be fully developed in the first half of 2020. He said that the Phase 11 development plan of the South Pars will be launched before the end of the Iranian calendar year (until March 20, 2020), and the 14th phase of the gas field will be put into operation in 2021. He said that they have made great progress in the South Pars gas field. They originally planned to cooperate with Total to build the supercharged platform technology during the 11th phase of the project, but unfortunately, Total and PetroChina withdrew from the project due to U.S. sanctions. He added that they terminated the contract in a friendly manner and Iran has no disputes with them in this regard. The sanctions cause them unable to comply with the contract, so they quit from the project. Zan said on Sunday that Iran will use all possible means to export oil, and emphasized that exporting crude oil is Iran’s legal right. Since last year, Iran’s crude oil exports have fallen sharply due to the US sanctions against Iran.
