Central Asian company Kashagan crude oil production set a new history-breaking record

Feb 15, 2022

On February 7, news came from Central Asia's Kashagan project in Kazakhstan that in January, the Kashagan project produced 1.61 million tons of crude oil and 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which set a new history-breaking record.

Last year, the Kashagan Project implemented Central Asia's integrated management concept at home and abroad, relying on domestic technical support, and through systematic review and reason analysis since the oilfield was put into production, to promote and help Kashagan Joint Operation Company to create an operation time window, and to transform the oilfield into an operational time window. The crude oil production capacity has increased from 390,000 barrels per day at the beginning of last year to 410,000 barrels, laying the foundation for stable production this year.

In January of this year, in the face of emergencies, the Kashagan Project actively supported and promoted the joint operation company to launch the emergency plan in a timely manner, to ensure safe and stable production as much as possible, to complete the crude oil production targets beyond the plan, and to achieve better than expected monthly production and operation performance.

The Kashagan field, located in the northeastern Caspian Sea, is one of the largest oil fields discovered in the world in the past 40 years. PetroChina took a stake in the giant offshore oilfield project in Kazakhstan in October 2013. Kashagan project trial production (phase I development) started production on September 28, 2016. Through the joint efforts of all shareholders and the Kashagan project joint operating company, the daily crude oil production level of the oilfield has gradually increased to the current 415,000 barrels. .
