Algeria 7500 BBL Oilfield Liquid Mud Plant Project
Aug 25, 2026
Project Overview
KOSUN provided an integrated 7500 BBL Liquid Mud Plant solution for an oilfield drilling and workover operation in Algeria.
Designed for continuous drilling fluid management, the project integrates mud purification, drilling waste reduction, water treatment, mud recovery, preparation, and storage into a centralized system. The solution enables the operator to manage drilling fluids throughout the operational cycle while reducing material consumption and waste handling requirements.

Project Requirements
Oilfield drilling and workover operations in Algeria involve demanding mud management conditions and continuous generation of drilling-related waste.
The operator required a centralized mud station capable of supporting multiple stages of drilling fluid management, including:
-
Continuous purification and conditioning of drilling mud
-
Reduction of drilling waste generated during operations
-
Treatment and reuse of recovered water
-
Preparation and storage of drilling fluids
-
Centralized management of recovered and newly prepared mud
The system also needed to support large-scale oilfield operations while maintaining efficient material utilization and reliable mud supply.
KOSUN Integrated Solution
Based on the project's operating requirements, KOSUN developed an integrated 7500 BBL drilling fluid management and mud station solution.
The system combines three key functional modules:
1. Drilling Fluid Purification
The mud purification module removes unwanted solids from circulating drilling fluids and helps maintain the required mud properties for continued drilling and workover operations.
2. Drilling Waste Reduction
The system incorporates solid-liquid separation and other treatment processes to reduce the volume of drilling waste generated during operations. Recovered liquid can be further treated and returned to the mud management cycle where applicable.
3. Centralized Mud Preparation and Storage
The standardized mud station provides facilities for mud preparation, conditioning, recovery, and storage, allowing drilling fluids to be managed centrally rather than through fragmented on-site handling.
Closed-Loop Mud Management
The overall solution establishes an integrated workflow:
Drilling & Workover → Mud Purification → Waste Reduction → Water Treatment → Mud Recovery & Preparation → Storage → Reuse
This centralized approach helps reduce the consumption of new drilling fluid materials and water while minimizing the volume of waste requiring subsequent handling.
Project Benefits
7500 BBL Centralized Capacity
Provides substantial storage and management capacity for continuous oilfield drilling fluid operations.
Integrated Mud Management
Combines purification, waste reduction, water treatment, recovery, preparation, and storage within one coordinated system.
Reduced Material Consumption
Improves the recovery and reuse of drilling fluids and process water, helping reduce the demand for new materials.
Lower Waste Handling Requirements
Source reduction and resource recovery help decrease the amount of drilling waste requiring downstream treatment and disposal.
Designed for Oilfield Operations
The system is configured for the operational requirements of drilling and workover activities, providing centralized and reliable mud management.
Application
The 7500 BBL Liquid Mud Plant is designed for onshore oilfield drilling and workover operations, particularly projects requiring centralized drilling fluid purification, recycling, preparation, and storage.
The project demonstrates KOSUN's capability to provide integrated Liquid Mud Plant solutions for large-scale oilfield operations and overseas drilling projects.
